I used to live in Poole but currently I am a Expat living in Mumbai for 2 years. I am restoring 2 400/4 and a gs100gt. I used to post now and again on the SOC board but have never felt like joining the club. My story is that I can get chrome plating done very cheaply here in Mumbai and that includes plastic plating which is very hard to get done in the UK, I manage to get my gs1000 indicator replated for £1.20 each and a friend’s gt380 airbox covers done for £5 each. I tried to post on the classic section but was unable to login after the update so email the admin and was told that I had to become a member. I replied that I was only going to post that I could get plastic plating done for the old gt models which I thought a lot of the gt owners would be interested in and never got a answer back of the admin.

Is this a business for you or just doing others a favor?

It's my wife that works here, and it was something I was thinking about doing to keep myself busy. It's also a heads ups, I don't know if anyone ever comes here on business, They can turn around in a few days if you push them.
They still use hex chrome, not the blue tinted stuff they have to use in the UK now.
This little lot cost me £45

This done in a one week turn around

Here's the plastic covers

I have another batch being done at the momment, I bought a 1hp polishing machine from a guy that sells hardware to all the platers in Mumbai, and he is taking this batch to some off the best in the city for a test plate and quote. He said he can get them quad plated. This means Copper followed by dull nickel then bright nickel then chrome. Also being sorted by him I don't have to pay white price. Will see how this goes before offring any service.

Looks good.
Just a heads up, the club does not allow business ad's of any kind on the froum.
But as your just a nice guy trying to help those poor Jab bike owners i'm sure no one will moan

http://www.rfownersclub.co.uk/
Tell Drac I sent you.
There is quite a few of the good old boys from SOC hang out there, certainly word would get around if you can offer some help concerning reso parts etc.

totally un-bike related, can you do items like bumpers etc for classic cars?( A Mini)

There is places here with tanks that big but the shipping and customs would be a nightmare, and I can't see my misses bring back a pair of bumpers when she comes home from the UK next week. Have you tried South coast chrome, they can do jobs that big. And for a laugh try alderney plating.

Cheers.
Are south cost chrome still around? My mate worked for them years ago when they were on west quay road (about the time BDH blew up!)

Yeah they are at creekmoor,
6 Balena Close, Poole, Dorset, BH17 7DB

I have found them to be less expensive than others in the area.
