I tried to go online the other night to ask a question and all has changed. I can't login with my usual squirreleater login?
I did have an email about the forum but deleted it
Any ideas? I have contacted djbry via email but other than that i'm cream crackered, I would like to keep my account running with them but it's a chicken and egg situtaion, can't log in to ask why i can't log in......
Maybe if D+M or Helen can get online could you contact someone for me?

They had a big shake up over the website, it all got SO political and stupid that we've let our membership lapse and won't be going back!!

It was all about forum topic access for 'Non' members, seems to have upset a few regulars as some of them where leaving when we did.

Charming, couldn't see a problem with anyone using the forum, member or not.
They'll soon regret it once it becomes a barren wasteland with nothing happening.

Did some mention my name ?

You deleted the email Mr Squirrel ?? - stupid boy Pike. lol! Now why did you do that ?

What you SHOULD have done, was log in with the new password you had been sent, then you could change it back to your original password.

All the arguing aside, (by those who seem to spend their days arguing) all SOC have done is make certain sections of the site passworded for members (just like PDMC and most other forums I know of). As usual, those who wanted something for nothing - i.e. - not wanting to pay membership, have complained.

I will get Adam (SOC Webmaster)or DJBry to contact you Sq.

Hi Helen,
I've had a long mail from Roy (Fastfitter) that suggests it is a little more than that................Doesn't sound terribly good to be honest.

But, I will have a look if I can, many thanks for contacting them...
bearing in mind Bry hasn't replied to my email........
But as for paying to use a forum( I have no interest in the club nowadays, too little time to go to meets-have to be selective) that cost next to nothing to run ,but is(was) a superb tool for bringing in new members- I don't think so!
(I joined because of the forum and the help that came from it, Didn't you find the forum first?)
Will we see you at the new venue?.......
Stu

Ok, lots of emails flying around...
I've found a fair few of the old crowd are here.....
http://www.rfownersclub.co.uk/index.php
If your interested? I've posted an introduction and it's a bit like old times........
Drac is going to link to our site, so I will have to look at putting a links section on here, so have a think if there are any links you would want to have on here?
Stu.

I used to live in Poole but currently I am a Expat living in Mumbai for 2 years. I am restoring 2 400/4 and a gs100gt. I used to post now and again on the SOC board but have never felt like joining the club. My story is that I can get chrome plating done very cheaply here in Mumbai and that includes plastic plating which is very hard to get done in the UK, I manage to get my gs1000 indicator replated for £1.20 each and a friendís gt380 airbox covers done for £5 each. I tried to post on the classic section but was unable to login after the update so email the admin and was told that I had to become a member. I replied that I was only going to post that I could get plastic plating done for the old gt models which I thought a lot of the gt owners would be interested in and never got a answer back of the admin.

Is this a business for you or just doing others a favor?

It's my wife that works here, and it was something I was thinking about doing to keep myself busy. It's also a heads ups, I don't know if anyone ever comes here on business, They can turn around in a few days if you push them.
They still use hex chrome, not the blue tinted stuff they have to use in the UK now.
This little lot cost me £45
http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z225/sweetpeauk/CB400/chrome%20plating/?albumview=slideshow

This done in a one week turn around

Here's the plastic covers
http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z225/sweetpeauk/gt380%20replated%20plastic%20covers/?albumview=slideshow

I have another batch being done at the momment, I bought a 1hp polishing machine from a guy that sells hardware to all the platers in Mumbai, and he is taking this batch to some off the best in the city for a test plate and quote. He said he can get them quad plated. This means Copper followed by dull nickel then bright nickel then chrome. Also being sorted by him I don't have to pay white price. Will see how this goes before offring any service.

Just a heads up, the club does not allow business ad's of any kind on the froum.
But as your just a nice guy trying to help those poor Jab bike owners i'm sure no one will moan

Hi welly.

Try pitching up here..
http://www.rfownersclub.co.uk/
Tell Drac I sent you.
There is quite a few of the good old boys from SOC hang out there, certainly word would get around if you can offer some help concerning reso parts etc.

totally un-bike related, can you do items like bumpers etc for classic cars?( A Mini)

There is places here with tanks that big but the shipping and customs would be a nightmare, and I can't see my misses bring back a pair of bumpers when she comes home from the UK next week. Have you tried South coast chrome, they can do jobs that big. And for a laugh try alderney plating.

Are south cost chrome still around? My mate worked for them years ago when they were on west quay road (about the time BDH blew up!)
