| Well I suppose it proves you can't be too careful. Today whilst riding back from Hurn Airport I had a dissagreement with a Volvo and sadly the Sprint lost (badly).
I was filtering past a queue of satinonary traffic when an impatient Volovo driver decided to pull out as some speed heading for a side road opposite. I was level with his rear door when he decided to make his move so I stood no chance of avoiding him, it all happened so fast, there was just a loud bang and the next thing I knew I was lying in the road with the Sprint on top of me.
I am Ok, with the exception of a number of bruises and scrapes (and a cracked cheek bone) but sadly the bike is probably a write-off (smashed fairings, distorted mountings, nearside footpeg sheared off, nearside end can torn and distorted, multiple scratches and possibly a distorted frame). I am waiting for the insurance assessor to come view the wreckage.
So it would seem that I will be out of action for rhe forseeable future. | |

| I'm so sorry to read your post Alan, but relieved that the bike seems to have taken most of the damage and not you. Bikes can be replaced, however fond we are of them. | |

| Thankyou everyone for your kind thoughts, I am really sad to loose the bike but hopefully the insurance will allow me to replace it with another. John, I may be in the market for your old Sprint after all Alf, how was the R1, are you going to buy it? Craig, does it still count as a ride out if I bring the bike on a trailer? All the best and ride safe everyone (I tried, but hey ho!) Alan | |

| Well folks, I’m back on two wheels thanks to my excellent insurance company, and because I have independent witnesses confirming my version of events, they are not even asking for me to pay my excess. BLD came out today and took the Sprint to be repaired and left me with a courtesy bike (well a 1250 Bandit) still, beggars can’t be choosers but at least I can still join in with club events till my bike is back. | |

| I have just been informed by my insurance company that due to previously un-noticed damage to the exhaust system (apparently they did not discover the damage till they tried to fit the new silencer), the Sprint has become an un-economical repair However, its not all doom and gloom, I am in negotiations for the purchase of a replacement........... not a Sprint, but rather nice Triumph Trophy 1200 so all is not lost I will keep you all informed on my progress and in the mean time I still have use of the 'Lame Duck' Suzuki. | |
